Gordon Berry FCCA CTA

Gordon is the Owner and Managing Director

Gordon qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1994. In 2002 he took over his fathers’ traditional accountancy practice which had run for thirty years in Kirkcaldy. Gordon modernised the Firm whilst qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2004 and an NLP Master Practitioner in 2007.

Gordon’s years in practice have seen profound changes in the taxation of earnings and how we report them to HMRC under what they call a self-assessment system. This includes the introduction of IR35, the abolishment of company audit, changes in the way dividends were taxed and, briefly, a nil rate band of corporation tax. Now we have a separate Scottish tax regime and likely more changes to come

In addition to both the professional accounting and tax qualifications, Gordon is a trained business advisor. Gordon also qualified as a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming in 2007 and has training and qualifications in Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness.

Alanna Borthwick FCCA

Alanna qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2005.  After leaving Bell Baxter High School Alanna undertook an HND in Accounting and Finance at Fife College in Kirkcaldy.  In 2001 Alanna joined a local well-respected firm of Accountants in Glenrothes as an Accountants Assistant and studied towards her ACCA qualification.  She was involved with many different types of clients from farmers cooperatives and veterinary clinics to funeral directors to metal wholesalers.  She worked for a time in the firms tax department assisting in the preparing Self Assessment tax returns.

Alanna worked her way up the ranks within the firm and was promoted to Client Manager in 2007.  After almost 15 years at the firm she moved to a small local firm before recently moving to Business Oxygen Limited.

Alanna’s spare time is spent with her family, including her young son and family dog.  She enjoys watching telly and tries to balance that out with doing some exercise classes.
